an African American, 33-year-old female, serving 150 months (12.5 years)
sentence for one count of wire fraud. I have been incarcerated since March
2016 and was sentenced on 01/31/2017 in the Northern District of Georgia.
I am currently housed at a Federal Correctional Institution in Aliceville, Alabama.
I have been away from my children for five years now and I am fighting constantly for my
freedom each day.
I have two (2) children, ages 10 and 15, waiting for me to return home. I am reaching out to you pleading
for your help to any guidance towards my freedom. I strongly believe the biblical verse, “When two or
more are gathered, the yoke is hard to be broken.” With your help, I can succeed with gaining my
freedom. I pray that you are willing to help me, towards my freedom.
A Little About Me
First and foremost, I would like to admit that I take full responsibility for my actions that led me to prison.
I regret being away from my children. However, I do not regret what incarceration has taught me. I have
taken the past five years of incarceration seriously and used this time to reevaluate who I am as an
individual; re-examine the poor choices I have made; and educating myself on different types of subjects as
legal law, real estate, investing, scholars, history, etc.
Being incarcerated has taught me that education is so important. Educating myself has led to my
understanding of values, integrity, morals, and standards for myself. I can admit prior to my incarceration,
I was ignorant to these things. I did not have an adult figure to guide me in life to teach me these things
and I self-taught myself. This led me to gain illegal proceeds from the government and at the same time, I
thought I was winning. Winning only to a jail cell. The government alleges that I stole twenty million
dollars which is far from the truth.
My goal upon release is to focus on the real estate industry, flipping and renovating homes. I have taken
numerous of courses and classes since incarceration. To list a few, drug and alcohol abuse treatment, real
estate foreclosures, parenting children with special needs, paralegal diploma, associate degree in
theological, bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry and several more. I am currently working on my
masters in Christian counseling and my 2nd bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.
In March 2020, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This is an immune suppressant disease which can
cause extreme weight loss, irritable bowel movements, diarrhea, fatigue, etc. I honestly believe the stress of
not being there for my children has caused this diagnosis, but GOD has taught me to let my burdens go.
This shall pass and victory shall come.
In closing, I want to thank you for allowing me to share my story. I would also like to state for the record
that this is a cry for justice as I sincerely hope that you have the compassion deep within your heart to help
me gain my freedom. I am seeking any help such as advocates on my behalf, attorneys, paralegals,
criminal resources, and legal and non-legal advice. I pray I will hear from you soon, and God bless you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Singleton
