My name is Roxanne, and I am incarcerated for Conspiracy to Kidnap and
Kidnapping. I received 168-month sentence. I am currently housed at FCI
Aliceville in the Honor Dorm with no disciplinary reports. I have held a
full-time job and have paid off my assessment fees. I am now working on paying my restitution fees. I
have been in continued programming until Covid-19 hit.
My case is out of the 9th Circuit in Arizona, Tucson Court with the Honorable Cindy K. Jorgenson.
I have a victim on my case who was bound and in the trunk of my car. I did not put him there, but I drove
the car. I was not in control, but because I took it to trial, the prosecuting attorney demanded I get the role.
The victim was not hurt. He jumped out of the trunk at the border of Mexico. Due to his greed, he lied
when he told where he lived, and I was threatened, and my house shot at. Police were notified and they
could not help me. After a month, I gave them what they wanted, which was his address, but 2 men
decided to get physical while obtaining an address and then asked me to come meet them. The only thing
they used of mine was the car. The 2 men asked for a ransom. I did not want anything to do with this.
My father, who is 85 years old, is sick with dementia, heart problems, diabetic and on daily insulin and
Retired Special Forces SGM. He lives in Florida and his wife has left him. He is not doing well. He has
100% disability and his retirement after 30 years in the Army. He owns his own home and wants me, his
only child, to come take care of him. His mane is James L. Carey, and he resides at 28213 River Run Drive,
Leesburg, FL 34748.
I am a 57-year-old woman with a medical history of hypertension and the medication used for that is
Lisinopril 20 mg. I have Hypothyroidism and I am on Levothyroxine Sodium 125 mg and I am currently
having problems with this drug. I have been unable to see medical upon request and trying to see them for
the last 5 months. I am also a Type 2 diabetic and I am on Metformin 500 mg. I also have High Cholesterol
land I am on Atorvastatin 10 mg. The nearest hospital the facility was using has since closed and now the
nearest hospital is an hour and a half away. I suffered 3rd degree chemical burns on the job, and it took
over 24 hours to get seen in the emergency room. I am not seen on a regular basis at this facility for my
medical problems and the stress of this has caused my blood pressure to go up along with headaches daily.
I have a minimum recidivism risk and I am camp eligible. My paperwork was at Grand Prairie awaiting
designation when Covid-19 hit. I have taken all the classes that pertain to my crime under The First Step
Act, even though I do not qualify for it. I am also a Suicide Mentor and Teacher and have taken all the
Trauma for Life Classes in the Psychology Department as well as Anger Management. I have pushed
myself to learn different thinking and coping skills to prepare me for the future.
Please consider me to go home to my father and live the rest of my life taking care of him or him taking
care of me, or we are taking care of each other! Incarceration is not a life for anyone but especially when
you are as old as I am. I just want to get to my father while he is still living and help him live his last days
in peace. My incarceration is tearing him apart.
I appreciate you taking the time to hear my story. Justice was not served in my case, but then again, it
rarely is with the FBOP.
Thank you kindly,
Roxanne Carpenter
